I came across this recipe to make homemade peanut butter dog treats using only 3 ingredients.
It was very useful as I was trying to find recipes for dog treats that I could quickly make for my own dog. Poppy does like some shop-bought treats, but I want to be completely happy with the ingredients in her treats. So I am on the lookout for some easy dog treat recipes.
This recipe looks really easy, so I thought I would give it a try. Check out how to make easy dog treats using only three ingredients! It does make a nice looking dog biscuit.
You don’t need them, but I bought some doggie cookie cutters and silicone dog treats moulds. As the mixture was soft, I used the dog treat moulds. I found this easier than rolling it into balls, but you could do that if you have no moulds.
So, today, I tried it to see how easy it was. The answer? Very quick and easy. It took less than 10 minutes to make the recipe and then 16 minutes to cook.
You Will Need:
Banana x 1
Peanut butter x 1/2 cup – please read the warning if you are not aware of the dangers of dogs and peanut butter containing xylitol
Oats x 1 1/2 cup (approx) – I used 1 cup
Measuring cups
1 large bowl
1 fork
1 spatula
Baking tray
Parchment paper (optional)
Dog or Bone shaped cutters (optional but so cute!) I used these silicone dog treat moulds.
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit or 180 degrees.
Peel banana and slice into bowl.
Mash until it is about the texture of applesauce.
Mix the banana mush with the peanut butter.
Slowly add the oats to the desired texture. I used 1 cup which gave the consistency I wanted.
Shape it into whatever size treats you want for your dog.
I put the mix into the dog treat moulds in a big blob.
Then scraped it down into the individual molds. This was really easy.
Bake at 350 Fahrenheit for around eight minutes on each side (depending on size). I baked for 16 minutes in silicone moulds.
This was very easy, and the end product looks super cute. Give it a try!
I couldn’t decide whether to use the deeper or shallow molds so I tried one of each. I will see if Poppy prefers the thicker or thinner treats.

Charlee: “Looks like a tasty treat for our canine friends.”
Chaplin: “Needs more fish!”
Yes Poppy would probably agree as she loves fish too! She made up for it though on ‘Sardine Sunday’.
We just made these; they turned out great. Since we do not have molds, we used the full amount of oatmeal and just rolled the dough into balls, then flattened them a bit. The dogs (Lab, GSD and Aussie) love them! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
That’s great and I’m glad they liked them,
Much easier than the recipe I’ve been using. I will give them a try!
I’m definitely going to try these!
These worked great and very easy. I either needed to cook at little longer or used less of a ingredient. Will try different options. Thank you for sharing!
Do you use quick oats or regular oats in this recipe?
Hi – I use quick oats in the recipe. Thanks for stopping by!
How many does this make when using the molds?
Hi do I store these in the fridge or on the counter? Thanks!
Hi – they don’t need to be kept in the fridge. I just keep them in an airtight container. Thanks for stopping by!
These are great. How long do they last in airtight container? Thank you.
HI. Thanks for dropping by. I find they last around 2 weeks with no problems. They may last a bit longer but Poppy normally eats them before then!
